About us

To feel at home in a new city you just moved to is never easy. Finding a safe space to stay while feeling like Bambi on ice in a new environment was always the biggest challenge for me – to actually LIKE the place no matter where I was, and also to have my basic needs met in terms of hot cold water, cleanness, stabile Wi Fi, comfort and environment with just the right amount of privacy, nature and social interaction. After inheriting the huge family house that was way too big for one person I realized that I needed house/flat/roommates. Little by little it became what it is today. Both, the house and the people living with me in the past 10 years, have changed me and my life in ways I did not think possible.

The House has its own life and purpose now. Its constantly changing, evolving and adapting according to the needs of the people living here. The furniture migrates from one room to another, the Main Kitchen became a home for the Tree of the House Family (pictures of everyone that stayed in the house), a few years ago Perra – the Cat – took over the House and made it her own until she passed last year and ever since the House is known as “Perra’s House” in her memory.

However the experience in staying with us is unique and NOT for everyone!

Living with us is a crash course in growing up, of showing each tennant what is possible in life, it cracks you open in places you hid away from the world and even from yourself and gives you insights into how you want to live your life after you leave, possibly maybe even recreate parts of it in their futures if they choose to do so. Its a space where you can make bonds for life, become a little bit kinder to self and others and leave with an understanding to which point your actions do matter and how they affect everything and everyone that surrounds each and every one of you. The space is filled with countless stories and the decoration is bohemian, whimsical but cozy – definitely depending on the season and the current special group of people.

Main prerequisites for staying with us are an open heart, willingness to grow and change and a bucket of kindness. Everything else usually falls into its place.

To answer a question that is most likely somewhere in the back of your mind – Yes its real! The house exists, and I am for real as well.

The house and everyone that has ever lived here created a somewhat unique job description for me. Mostly it is to hold and maintain the safe space for everyone here. However instead of the typical landlord (note to future tennants: if you expect a regular Landlord PLEASE book a different place) I usually end up being family, friend, necessary safety net, the guardian of the House, sometimes the necessary wicked witch, the cookie maker, fixit girl and the keeper of house memories.
